The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes: Chapters 1-10

I joined an online book club that Blue-Eyed Bride and Rachel put together.

Check it out here.

This is only the first week and we were to have read Chapters 1-10 and answer discussion questions. I actually read thru the whole book but still am so eager to see everyone's take on it, answers to the questions, and answer them myself.

1.What was your first impression of Tim?

My first impression was that he was charming, handsome (I’m just guessing, can’t remember if she ever described him in the book). I never fully understood why a college student would want to be interested in a 16 year old, and obviously that question is answered further on in the book. You can tell he knew exactly what a woman wanted to hear and how to persue and there was definitely motive and manipulation behind this.

2. If you were in CeeCee’s position, would you be willing to help your boyfriend in the way that she is willing to help Tim?

No way, No how. I would never have the guts and it would go against all I know to be right and it's dangerous and not to mention I’d be breaking the law.

3. Why do you think CeeCee is so eager to please Tim?

I think CeeCee is longing to be accepted and loved in the way she has only dreamt about and in her mind I believe CeeCee feels this is a way to show Tim how much she loves him and to keep his love in return.

4.Who do you think has it harder? Tim or CeeCee?

I honestly believe both of them have it hard, but in different ways. To some extent CeeCee definitely has it harder. Tim’s situation goes to show that money and a life of privilege doesn’t always bring you true happiness and doesn’t make you exempt from the horrible circumstances we experience in life. And CeeCee’s life has lacked love and stability and in return has caused her to get herself in a situation that will forever alter her life.

5.What character trait(s) about CeeCee stuck out the most to you in these first ten chapters?

Her compassion is the main character trait that stuck out to me! Without giving away spoilers, in future chapters you find that no matter how knee deep she gets herself in this situation, that never left her.

6.Do you think CeeCee is as mature as she seems?

Well if she wasn’t mature in the beginning, she certainly was by the end of the whole situation. The scenario she found herself in caused her to mature and experience more things than any 16 year old would want to.

It's not too late to join the book club and I encourage you to do so!!!! If you are interested go by your local library because that's where I got my book.

I love how in your first answer you said you pictured Tim as being handsome...I definitely did too!

Thanks for participating :)

I agree with you and Rachel. I thought of him as handsome and just breathtaking too. Though he might have just been really sweet to her, which we now know why he was acting that way!

Tim would have to be good looking to get CeeCee to fall for such a crazy scheme!

I read through the whole book too! It was soooo hard to put down!

This book was so good! I'm so glad I stumbled upon the book club, can't wait to see what else they have in store for future books.

I definitely saw Tim as handsome, preppy but a little scruffy to attract the younger ladies! I like that you saw CeeCee's compassion and that's what led her to follow Tim. She definitely continues to show that until the bitter end.

I totally pictured Tim to be a really handsome guy as well, and really charming too! Enjoyed reading your thoughts. I too had a hard time putting the book down, but I made myself stop at Chapter 10....not sure if I'll be able to maintain that self control though : )

I definitely pictured him as being cute, but he quickly took a turn. I think that him being handsome and a charmer definitely helped to get CeeCee to agree with this plan. Not to mention her need to be accepted.

Don't worry I read the whole thing too, you're not the only one! :-)

Love your answer to #3! I'm just so sad for CeeCee.. even though I haven't read past chapter 10, I really think Tim is going to drop her like a hot potato! :)

I think it's so funny how everyone thinks he's so handsome. I can't decide what I think--I am having such a hard time picturing him in my mind!! So you've completely finished the book! I am so jealous that you know what happens!!

A book club sounds so fun! In a few more years when both my kiddos are in school I hope to read much more :) I just don't make the time.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I thought you answer about Tim's life of privilege doesn't bring happiness and make you exempt from horrible things was interesting. I kind of forgot about his rich upbringing, but totally agree with you.

Looks like our answers were pretty agreeable! I couldn't help myself and read the whole book too! Interesting to bring up Tim's looks. I think I picture what I would think would lead me to fall for a guy that age and it is probably handsome, appearing a little thoughtful and a little scruffy. :)
