Run Lauren... Run!

First, want to thank you all for your wonderfully sweet and encouraging comments yesterday. It's nice to know I'm not alone in my feelings!! :)

On another note. Well, I did it…. I signed up for my first 5k race!

Anyone who knows me well knows that I am in no way, shape, or form a runner. But this is something I’ve always wanted to do. This is coming from someone who survived only one year of high school soccer. I was not blessed with the athletic genes in the family.

But I figured this would be a good start to eating healthier and living a healthier life style. This is where the race will take place.

Beautiful, huh? Gotta love Florida. And not to mention, 84 degrees is the high today, in December. Only in Florida, haha!! Guess no Winter Wonderland for me!

But the awesome thing about this, my best friend Melissa is going to do it with me. We're signed up and ready to go. The race is March 21st, I'm going to try to do what training I can right now, but after the first of the year going to start getting really committed.

Any tips for me? Also, I'm way overdue for some good running shoes, any suggestions??

I've gotten positive feedback about this, and if I survive this, it will be a major feat for me.

Also, starting today I'm cutting out sweets, bread, and soda out of my diet and going to start drinking lots of water. I'll probably report to ya'll on that front so I can have some accountability. But just in cutting that out alone, I know I'll see a major difference.

On your mark, get set, go....... :)

I think this is Great what you ladies are doing! I know you can do it if you put your heart into it!

I think I'm going to have to wait until after the 1st to start dieting, all these Christmas cakes and candy is too good right now! ;)

Wow! What a Goal! Although I suggest waiting on dieting till after the holidays. Good luck. I don't have any tips except start out slow.

Oh Lauren! I had decided I'm going to try to do this too! Although the only 5k near me isn't until Labor Day... I am going to try to start training next week. I'm going to try the "couch to 5k" program I've read about on so many blogs since I pretty much don't run. At all. :) So we'll see how this goes...

Keep us updated!

Lauren ~ This is SO exciting! You will do wonderful and have plenty of time to train.

I love 5Ks. They are a great distance. Now go get you some good running shoes. Make sure to get them at a running store where they can watch you walk/run on a treadmill and see what kind of shoes your feet need. ; )
