This morning for some reason I had a very old song stuck in my head that came out of nowhere. When I was younger and I'm talking like elementary school young, the song that would make me pull out the hair brush was Lisa Stanfield's "All Around the World".
Been around the world and I, I, I
I can't find my baby
I don't know when, I don't know why
Why he's gone away
And I don't know where he can be, my baby
But I'm gonna find him
Seriously, that was great stuff....
And can't forget about "Hold On" by Wilson Phillips.
Ooh some day somebody's gonna make you want to
Turn around and say goodbye
Until then baby are you going to let them
Hold you down and make you cry
Don't you know?
Don't you know things can change
Things'll go your way
If you hold on for one more day
Can you hold on for one more day
Things'll go your way
Hold on for one more day (one more day)
I can't tell you how many times my mom caught me in my room by myself singing my lungs out and making up dance routines, the whole deal, LOL!
Anyone feeling me here? They just don't make music like that anymore, haha! Now we have the likes of Lady Gaga, Blacked-Eyed Peas, Pink, etc.... Don't get me wrong, there is some great music out there, but lets take a trip down memory lane, shall we? What songs did you have on repeat and made you pull out the hair brush???
Because I know I'm not the only one that once had a hair brush for a mic! :)

You are too funny, girl!! Love it! :) You keep rocking to whatever songs you wish. Oh, and elementary school young...honey, that wasn't that long ago for you!! You make it sound as if you're ancient or something!!!
Love ya
C&C Music Factory, Everybody Dance Now. We did a whole music video of that song at a slumber party once! Haha.
And as for current music - as much as I cannot stand her, I can't help but want to sing and dance when I hear Party in the USA by Miley.
I can totally rock out on Wilson Phillips "Hold On"... I also belt out "Your in Love" by them...
I will admit it-Push It and Baby Got Back are my old school faves!! :) Too funny this morning!!
You are too cute!!
The hairbrush mic is classic. I have been known to pull it out a time or two = )
Back to Life, Back to reality lalalala lol Back then I knew the words!! Oooh and Ace of Base "Dont turn around your just gonna see my heart breaking" The boyfriend and I were just having this conversation about what has happened to music!? plus we heard some old school people were going to be in concert I think it was Boys 2 Men and En Vogue =D Happy Monday.
I Think We're Alone Now by Tiffany always gets me singing! :)
i had many songs on repeat! ;)
just this past weekend i downloaded a bunch of my favorite 80's tunes. i still sing my lungs out at home and in my car, haha.
Great post! i just reminisced about the days I used to sing Celine Dion at the top of my lungs. (what a weird little kid- i think i was the only six year old who loved her! lol)
I totally agree with you- music now is great, but the classics were SO much better for belting out. :)
You're definitely not the only one who used a hair brush as a mike :) We also made music videos at our slumber parties in elementary school. I hope those never surface. I imagine if kids these days did it it'd be all over YouTube threatening to embarrass us for future generations!
haha too funny :-) you crack me up!
Oh, yeah! I pulled out the hairbrush. And I used to sing in front of the mirror!
You wouldn't recognize MY oldies!
Hold On was one of my favorites, too. ; )
Lately it's been "...somebody's watching me" thanks to the commercial of the stack of money with the googly eyes.
And thanks to the Swiffer commercials, another one stuck in my head is "Love Stinks".
SO over them!
LOVE me some Wilson Phillips!! But my ultimate hairbrush song in "Lean into it" by Mr.Big....hands down favorite!!!
Okay, I think we might be the same person, I loved both of those songs, and the song on your music player is one of my most favorite that I have sang at my Church. Love your blog and am now following. Saw your comment on Southern Belle's blog and that's how I found you. :)
