Detour

Last night I left work to go to school. No sooner I was stuck in traffic because the whole road to get to the Turnpike to get to school was shut down because of a very serious accident I thought and then heard it was just construction. So I don't know. I hadn't even made it out of my town. Then they started detouring us on this side road and I had no idea where it would take me. I tried calling several people that I thought might know but noone would answer their phone. I was kind of concerned because I had no idea where this was leading, I thought it was going to take forever and I was already going to be late for school as it was. So I just decided to turn around and go back home and work from home last night.

This morning it got me to thinking. Doesn't that sound like our relationship with God? Where we think we're on the right path but then all of a sudden something happens that causes God to bring us to a detour, a different route. A route that we're going on blindly because we have no idea what's going on and where it's taking us and we can get scared and turn away.

We all wish God would give us a big detour sign way ahead of time, so we can get a heads up and know what to expect. But sometimes these detours come so quickly, that we just have to have faith and believe that God will guide us through the detour and get us to our destination safely.

If there's a detour you're facing right now, a route you're walking on completely by faith and with complete surrenderence, just know that life is all about detours and he will bring you to your destination in due time.

I very easily could have just sat with the rest of the cars and waited to see where this detour took me. But instead, I got scared not knowing where I was going and didn't know how to get to where I needed to be. Instead I turned around.

Don't get scared, just see where the detour takes you......

Awesome post! It reminds me of something I heard the other day... God doesn't ignore our prayers- sometimes his plans just don't include what we *thought* we needed. and that's where we take a detour! (a detour according to us, anyways... as long as we trust God, we'll always be right on his path!)

Thanks for the reminder!
