The reason I'm giving up fast food!

This precious face you see is the reason I gave up fast food. His name is John Nasemgu. He is from Kenya. And he's my new sponsor child!!!!

I signed up to be his sponsor while at Women of Faith. My mom and I used to sponsor a child but World Vision got in touch with us and said that our little girl we were sponsoring no longer needed our sponsorship because she was doing so well. Isn't that awesome? That made us so happy and I’ll be honest, for me I was kind of relieved at the same time. I really enjoyed being able to help her but was happy about saving that money monthly as well.

But then I went to the Women of Faith conference and World Vision was there and had a booth set up and I fell in love with this little boy. I’ve been really feeling convicted lately about the frivolous money I’m spending. And I came to realize what I spend a month in fast food can help sponsor John.

He lives with his parents and four sisters. They live in a community in Kenya that’s severely affected by the HIV and AIDS crisis. They rarely have money for food, school, or medical care. So with my help, I can provide John other basic needs for him and his family.

I would like to think that I’m going to be an answer to his prayer and I’m so excited to see how my money is going to be able to help him!

This in itself made the whole weekend worthwhile and I just wanted to be obedient to the tug on my heart to help little John and his family!

Would you please be praying for him? That though I can’t touch him tangibly, but that my money, love, and prayers would touch his life in more ways than I could imagine!

And this sweet boys birthday is Septmeber 3rd :)

So one other nugget I learned over the weekend.... I learned that you can touch the world, one child at a time!!

What a great reason to give up fast food. We sponsor a little boy in India. My few dollars means SO much more to him than what we'd do with it every month.

Thats awesome girl!! You know - that makes me think... maybe we should do a Word Vision linky thing.. have everyone put a picture of their world vision child so we can all pray unitely for them & have it a blog day!!! Wouldnt that be fun?!?!?! & then all these kids would REALLY be covered in prayer!!!

Lauren, that is so fantastic. It's great that you have something tangible to give up, too. Whenever you drive by McDonalds, you can think of how much it's helping the little boy!

He'll be in my prayers :)

That is awesome!

I sponsored a child in high school, and Mr. Newlywed and I have been talking about doing it again. I am glad you found a good organization. That was one of our biggest concerns.

I am so excited to see what God has you do with this boy's life!
