The Eharmony experience!

As I told you yesterday, I signed up for Eharmony!

Trying to find someone through this avenue is quite the interesting process!

It’s in stages.

First you send an ice breaker. And there’s a list of ones you can choose from.

“Hi, I’d like to chat.”

“I love your smile.”

“We seem to live close to each other, let’s chat.”

And so on and so forth, I laugh because some of them are cheesy, but a lot of them I feel comfortable sending.

Nothing like a good ice breaker to break the ice.

Then once you’ve reached that point the person can send you 5 questions from a list Eharmony gives you, for you to answer, and vice versa.

One guy asked me how I feel about food??? How random is that?

My first thought was… Ummmm, I like it a whooooooole lot. And if you don’t like food, this could pose a problem, ha! What do you think, is that a good answer? LOL!

The options of questions you have to choose from cover all ends of the spectrum.

So you sit there, thinking oh, is it too soon to ask this question, is this question appropriate. It really is hard to narrow it down.

Then you move on to share your “must have” and can’t stand” in a relationship…

I like this part because this is where you really get to know the person and can ask more questions based off what they shared. It really gives you a glimpse into what they are looking for and whether it’s compatable with you or not. I think this is probably the most IMPORTANT step!

And then the last and final step is Eharmony mail, where you can talk back and forth over email through Eharmony if you chose to proceed to get to know each other better!

Let me back up though… Before I completely signed up, because at first I was doing the 10-day free trial, and I couldn’t see any pictures… Keep this in mind.

But if I liked the profile of the person and what they had to say, I sent an ice breaker. When I signed up fully and could see the picture…. I was like whoah, big mistake. If I would have known then what I know now, I so would not have sent that ice breaker.

I'm a newbie but my first piece of advice, make sure you SEE the picture first! Just sayin!

I know, so wrong of me, ha!

But hey, you gotta have some kind of attraction, right???

This could get very interesting!!

This eharmony business is really interseting. I look forward to hearing your journey. I like how they have different steps of it and you kind of have to graduate to the next level it seems. And don't feel bad about seeing pics first. You're right. there has to be SOME attraction!!

I am so excited for you to go on this journey! I have such an awesome eharmony testimony to share with you! I started it last October after I moved to a new city. I work with kids so there was basically zero chance of me meeting someone! I went out on two dates before going on a date with Rob. (this was at the beginning of December so give it some time!) It was such an instant connection for us. He proposed in June and we're getting married in March! I will be sending up some big prayers for you! :)

I think it's important to have some kind of physical connection, but not necessarily right up front. But I'm glad you're going on this journey! I'm looking forward to hearing more about it. :)

I was cracking up and almost chocked on my popcorn over the "how do you feel about food" comment. I would be careful with that one!

I can't wait to see this journey unfold on your blog. So exciting!

Hi Lauren, we’re excited for you too. From what you’ve written, you have an excellent understanding of how the Guided Communication process is designed to help you and your matches to learn more about each other and possible “deal-breakers” before you get too involved.

The work you put into it will be worth it. On average, 542 people a day even get married through using eHarmony!

We agree that photos are extremely helpful in conveying who you are to your matches, and although you didn’t care for the appearance of this particular match, it’s okay to chances. Some members have communicated with matches who didn’t have photos and were pleasantly surprised.

I also wanted to let you know that I’m here to assist you with eHarmony. Feel free to follow me on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/eharmony_Jack

Good luck, Jack

I tried eHarmony after a few friends had success with online dating (two are now married). I have been dating someone I met on eHarmony for 10 months now. :-) (I also had the worst first date ever with someone I met on eHarmony - it's a mixed bunch!). Online dating was a very interesting experience. Good luck with it!
