Put your left foot in....

Put your left foot out....

This Christian walk is alot like the hokey pokey!!!

So I’m in the midst of starting a new book by Karen Kingsbury, I started it last night.

She is a Christian fiction author and I suggest if you haven’t read any of her books, run, don’t walk to the nearest book store or library. So I’m getting in the bed for the night and I’m multitasking by reading and I turn on the TV.

And ya’ll, I turn it to Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami.

And on commercial I’d mute it and read my Christian fiction novel.

See the irony?

I watch Keeping up with the Kardashians as well.

No disrespect to the Kardashian family but both of these shows are pretty much trash and not good food for the soul… it’s raunchy and at times you feel gross just watching it.

And if you watch these shows, not saying anything towards you, but these are just my own convictions.

Here I am reading a book that is edifying and builds up my spirit and good meat for my spiritual bones and yet I had one foot in the world taking in this junk that is useless television.

I laughed when I realized what I was doing but in reality it’s sad how many times we as believers do this.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." Romans 12:2

Just think about it, what are you taking in? Is it good for the soul?

Whether it’s tv, music, advertising… the world is always going to throw something at you.

It’s just the world we’re living in today, but we don’t have to be conformed!

Just a little insight God gave me yesterday…….

Sorry Kardashians...

I'm not choosing the world!

I caught myself getting so aggravated & mad at my life compared to the lives some of these people lead on TV - with all the bling, money, homes, clothes... it just made me feel so yucky about MY life... which is BLESSED with many things... so I had to turn off some of these things because there's enough in the world to wear me down besides something I can control watching.

So I hear ya girl!

I agree with you. I think that we do need to stop and think about what we take in some days and how we reflect upon it. I find myself doing that in a lot of different aspects of my life.

Buuuut... I do watch some of the shows lol it's my guilty pleasure, as long as I don't act like them in public, I'm good! haha

Excellent post. Sometimes we don't even realize what we're doing, right??

I love Karen Kingsbury books, but I do have to admit that I love watching Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami. It makes me laugh! I would not want the same life they live but it does entertain me!

What a great post! This came through my reader and I just had to comment. I think that sometimes we as Christians tend to "compromise" too much. We have one foot in the church and the other in the world.

We want to rationalize and say, "Oh, it's just a harmless show...it can't hurt to watch, etc."

I was the very same way until I felt convicted about it. My mom used to say "garbage in, garbage out" all the time while I was growing up.

Some of the things they show/do on some of these "reality" shows make me cringe. Every season they are pushing the envelope further and further...and we allow ourselves to be "entertained" by this garbage?

Kudos to you on turning it off. :)
