E-Harmony

As you know, currently I am single.... I've never been in a serious relationship, and I'm just now realizing how hard singleness can be while it seems my friends and everyone I know are getting married off and some have multiple children.

I've never been the one to have to have a man in my life to complete me, but I know there's always been a part of me that's lonely in that aspect and deep down I feel I really do desire a relationship and I've always struggled with the why. Is there something wrong with me? Why do others not have to wait so long but some do? You kind of have a tendency to think that God has forgotten about you in the midst of your singleness (but there is so much to be learned during this time), but I know he hasn't. Although there is a part of me that wishes he would move it along. I also think there's a part of me that has always felt inadequate, like I wasn't worthy enough, and so never really have put my heart out there on the line.

And the few dates I have been on, I've never heard from them again! It only added to my confusion. The avenues in which to meet people are very limited for me, but I know not impossible. But when you do see those doors, you have to be willing to open them up and give it a try. You'll never know unless you put yourself out there! And frankly, at this point in my life, I'm not looking for someone to just date but for someone I can potentially see myself spending the rest of my life with.

So with that said, I've been given free 3 months on the E-Harmony site for my birthday! And I'm going to set myself up on it this weekend. It's a whole process filling out all your information, so I have to give myself some time! I've always been skeptical of the whole internet thing, but I'm been hearing more and more of it actually working for people and I've kind of convinced myself not to rule it out completely. You just never know!

My mom found her soon-to-be husband on there, so if it works for me... we were thinking we could do like a mother/daughter testimonial on their commerical or something, haha!!

So what do you think? Should I give it a try???? :)

I totally think you should give it a try! :)

I have a friend who met her boyfriend on there and they totally hit it off. She hadn't been in a relationship in a long time so she gave it a shot and now she is in love.

Why not give it a shot? Our last pastor met his wife on there!!!!

I've heard many stories about it - what do you have to loose?

Its such a "technical" world we live in anyways - its a great way to meet people! Let us know how it all goes!!! We can all be your "jiminy Cricket conscience" on who you pick :)

I have a BFF that is going through the exact same thing. It's hard for me to give her advice since I have known my husband since I was 15 and have been married for 5 years. The other day we went for dinner and she was sharing the same things you are sharing in this post. My heart breaks, because I don't know what it's like and I can only imagine it being difficult. I don't think anything is wrong with you, So never believe that. Don't let the enemy tell you that you are inadequate or not worth it. I believe that God placed that desire in our hearts to have and to be had. You know?

During a stressful time in my life where my husband had his quarter life crises, I was by myself a lot! (Can you believe he had a quarter like crises?!?) I learned that though my husband loved me... he would never fulfill everything in me. And that my sister friend, is where I learned how to be the bride of Christ and be intimate with my Jesus. Ultimately he will guide you to your prince charming.

Free three months??!?! Heck yes, I think you should try! I'll be praying for you and your heart these next few month. I also pray Gods timing is just perfect when you meet the man if your dreams. :)

Blessings!

And trust me, I KNOW what you are going through and how you feel. I don't need a man, but sometimes I want one!

Let me know what happens. Maybe I'll give it a try lol

I know it's hard watching those around you marrying off and giving birth. I've been there in various situations, where it feels like your sitting on the sidelines watching the world pass you by. I'm gonna say a little prayer for you today, for peace and strength and protection of your heart and feelings. You're not inadequate honey, it's that no one had been good enough to be a perfect, everlasting match for YOU, as God's child. Regardless of the outcome of e-Harmony - enjoy it and relish it.

Lauren, I met my husband on Christianmatchmaker.com!!! We've been married for 10 years and he is AMAZING!!! It's funny because a girl I worked with was on that site and I was warning her to be so careful and was worried she was going to get murdered! I guess the jokes on me! She told me to just try the free trial for 30 days (I even wrote on the site that I was just doing this for fun and didn't want to meet anyone)....look what happened!!! HA! :) I got the most awesome guy. I don't even know if they still have the site but it had great questions like "How did you become a Christian?". Lamar (my husband) was my top match and I was his. I have heard of so many success stories from online relationships. Good luck to you, girl!!!

I say go for it! You have nothing to lose!

I am a proud fan of online dating. I met my husband on Match.com. We will celebrate six years of marriage on June 28th and have been together for over seven years. Our lives were meant to be together and God did it through that online site. I wish you all the BEST.

Go for it! But keep us updated every step of the way! I'll be praying that you find a Godly husband on there!

Oh Lauren! I think you crawled into my mind and copied my thoughts exactly!! I am SO ready to be a wife. For some girls, they want the wife so that they can be the mom and do the whole family thing. But I want more than anything to be a wife and share my life with someone.

I've done eharmony and actually met someone. We went out a few times and he was super sweet, but just nothing else there. But I don't regret it. I say GO FOR IT! You just NEVER know!!

I cannot wait to see the commercial! haha!

I tried to sign up for e-harmony a few years ago and it rejected me haha but I have heard some amazing stories about internet love matches!

Plus...it will make great material for the blog!!

Just always be safe with it okay?
AND, when I'm feeling down about singleness, I open up Lady in Waiting...you're the one that introduced me to that book, why not flip through it a little just to cheer yourself up!?

Definitely go for it!! Sounds fun!!

From one single girl to another.. I can sympathize with your thoughts and feelings. I have been having those feelings a lot lately as with it being summer time, I am around my friends and their families more.

Praying for you! Hope you had a good experience.

Hey Lauren! I think you should give it a try. Just pray to God for direction. Obviously, please be very careful! Maybe God just knows that it hasn't been the right time yet? It hasn't been for me and although sometimes I get upset about that, I realize God and I both realize now is not the right time. :) But it doesn't hurt to try it out :)

How much do I love this post?! You'll have to let me know how your "matches" have been going this past weekend. Don't worry, they'll send you a ton!

My first gut reaction to someone's profile was that is there was nothing said about his faith or God, I "closed" the match. I knew that if he wasn't willing to write that as an important part of his life and put it out there, then he couldn't be as serious about his faith as I was.

That really helped in weeding out a ton of guys!
