10 years and what do I have to show for it?!?!?!

10 years seemed sooooooooooooo far off! But it went by in the blink of an eye.

It's that time..... 10 year high school reunion is this year. The notices have started going around Facebook.

I look back over the past 10 years and think about where I'm at today and it's nothing like I pictured in my mind.

As wonderful as it would be to see everyone from the class of 2002, at the same time it makes me cringe.

I feel like I have nothing to show for the past 10 years.

Husband. Nope.

Kids. Nope.

Established career. Nope.

House with a mortgage. Nope (Although who really wants a mortgage, lol. But the house, yes!)

I feel like people with all the above have found who they are, whereas I still feel like God's taking me down the path of still discovering who Lauren is. I'm just a soon-to-be 28 year old seeking God's Will and knows in her heart God's plan is perfect.

The husband will be worth the wait.

I love kids and know in my heart that time will come.

I'm in school to better myself and get in that career and in the meantime with a job that has supported me 100%.

The house, it will come.

I'm blessed beyond measure with family and friends who bring me so much joy and I'm honored to do life with.

The past 10 years hasn't been without the hard times. But I hope I can look back and see God's hand in it all, the good and the bad and that I've grown in him and my heart pursues and seeks after him daily ....

And the rest, it will fall into place.

Any of you seen the movie Romy and Michelle's high school reunion??? Maybe I can just say I invented the post-it notes?!?!?!?!? :)

Girl you have plenty to show for 10 years! Do you think everybody else has it all together?? ha... nope. Even if they have one or all of the things you mentioned. :) You are beautiful, inside and out, and you seeking God's will and following His perfect plan are so much better!!!

Who could for get Roomy & Michelle?! Although you may not have all that you mentioned I know from my high school some people have been married, had the babies and are divorced already! So, so much for "having it all". I think slow and steady wins the race and that's you, my dear! Think of all you've done and experienced that they haven't because they had kids or a husband!

I have my 15th this Fall. I hate to say this...BUT...to help you feel better...
MOST of those girls will have gained a ton of baby weight and let themselves go while you are still rocking it out! (I can fit into my prom dress...not many can say that at 33!)
As my friend Kate (married in kind of a rocky situation, with a couple of kids) says, "Yes, the grass my be greener, but we all have the same fertilzer!"
You look amazing and are surrounded by love of family and friends with a great head on your shoulders and remember, you are not a woman who has not SETTLED for just any guy...
Most will envy you. :) Go get yourself an amazing dress for this! And you can...because that is one of the big perks of being single... enjoy it!! :)

Listen, just because you're not married, with child and a home-owner doesn't mean that you don't have plenty to show. I think that you have a ton to show for ten years and don't believe otherwise. It will happen for you L. You can count on it!

Girlie, what are you talking about!? You have plenty to show off! :) As someone without husband, without kids and with mortgage (so overrated) I can tell you that the most important thing we have to show off, is how much we have grown, how we constantly strive to get better and find God's path for us.

I have seen this movie and it is so cute!

I always read, but rarely comment.
This post, however, hit so close to home I just had to. I think if I were still blogging, I could've typed up the same thing.
I'm class of 03 and I am on the same boat--glad to have company!
I can't even describe how I feel, but maybe you could be close to understanding. Although I'm not as upbeat and hopeful, I have to admit.
I hope we find out who we are. I know not everyone has it together, as we may think...maybe it's because we're comparing? Idk.
