What Mother's Day means to me!

Mother's Day reminds me...

that one day I will have the blessing of being called mom.

that he has instilled in me the heart to be a mother.

that my life has been filled in abundance with mother figures and I LOVE that.

that there is no higher calling than being a mother.

to pray for those who have lost children or yearning to have children.

ultimately to never forget what Mary, the mother of Jesus, had to endure to see her only son given up, sacrificed, for the sake of our sins and as a mother, what that day must have been like for her.

BUT today also reminds me what an amazing mother I have.

This is my Mom and I last Mother's Day! Looking forward to capturing more memories this year!

Seriously, though, I should be celebrating her 365 days out of the year but I think it's so awesome that there's that one day that we set aside to honor those women that mean the most to us and that God has hand picked to be our mother.

Today us kids are spending the day with my Mom out on the waters and louging on the boat. The weather is going to be perfect today and can't think of a better way to spend the day.

I hope you enjoy Mother's Day, all of you Mother's out there, and if you're not a mother, enjoy the day spending it with the one's you call Mother. If your Mother is no longer here... Think sweet thoughts and hang on to those memories and may it fill you with peace and joy today!!!

Happy Mother's Day!

My wild and crazy Friday night!

Sooo..... I determined that sushi was on the menu for last night. So what's a sushi-craved girl supposed to do? Why pick some up!!

Pure sushi goodness!!!

This is where the crazy part of the night comes into play!!

I pulled weeds.

Anyone else convinced as I am that weeds are from the devil? It really didn't take me that long and figured I needed to go ahead and do it while it was still daylight and just get it over with. Looks so much better and sure when I look again they'll be back in full force.

And wait, the night gets crazier....

Then at 9pm I sat to watch Dateline (I know, my craziness cannot be contained), and before I knew it, I had crashed on the couch and it was almost 11pm.

Yes, such is the friday night of this wild 25 year old.

And let me tell you..... I must have had 94759457574 dreams last night and the bizarre thing is I can't remember not a single one, just know I had a HUGE headache when I woke up, ha!

Then I woke up to watch National Lampoon's vacation on TV.

The funniest movie EVER. And love the one when they go to Vegas!!

Anyhow, I think it's time for me to go and be produtive now... such a lazy Saturday. Going tonight to have an early dinner with my friend Monica and then I am going to baby-sit. Something so oddly strange about baby-sitting for the child of one of your high school friends, haha!! It's like being in the weddings but never the bride.. Feels like I'll always be the one baby-sitting other people's kids and always in other people's weddings. All in God's good timing!!!

Oh, and so stoked about Betty White hosting SNL!

And one thing is for sure, won't be falling asleep on the couch tonight.

Have a GREAT Saturday!!

Strange addictions!

So I was flipping through the channels the other night and stumbled upon the Discovery Channel and I was intrigued. They were doing a special on strange addictions!

Take a look....

Yep, you saw correctly.... This girl loves to eat chalk and she has eaten it everyday for 10 years.

WOW! Never in my life had I heard of such a thing.

I couldn't find the other videos but there were two other scenarios where another girl was addicted to tanning and belonged to six different tanning salons and another guy was addicted to running.... Haha, cannot say I have that problem. You can't even get me to run a mile. Let alone 100 miles a week this guy was running!!

So, what's your strange addiction if you have one??? Fess up. I suppose it can't be worse than eating chalk, or could it?

Unexpected day off!

I have to thank ya’ll so much for your sweet comments of support and encouragement and thank you for sharing in my excitement. Means so much. You are the best!

So yesterday my doctor’s appt. was at 8:30am. It’s a good hour away so it was an early morning. I get there and it turns out the audiologist did not have me on the books. She was booked all morning and she asked if I could come back at 1pm. I was planning to go back to work after the appointment and with it being an hour away it was kind of silly to drive back home and then drive back again. So the smartest thing to do would be just to stay. So I called my work and they understood, so I just took the whole day off.

I can’t complain because I got to hang out at a wonderful mall right next to my doctor’s office and kill some time.

Had some breakfast…

This is from Cinnabon….. I have such a weakness when it comes to this and it is out of this world pure goodness and I ate the WHOLE thing by myself…. YIKES!! But sooo good, HA!!

Then walked around looking at stores and went into Forever 21. Oh, a dangerous place, so dangerous…. Ha!!! Did ya’ll know that Forever 21 has a separate store just for accessories?

Looked around for a couple of hours more. Went to the real Forever 21 store and bought an outfit. Had to have something to show for my mall time, haha! Looked at tons of other places but didn’t buy…. I had never been in this mall and it was so nice just to look around and have time to myself. I still had some time to kill and I was exhausted. So there were some recliners and couch in the middle of the mall… and I parked myself there and people watched for awhile.

Oh, yes, I was that person who propped my feet up and used the mall as my personal living room, haha!!

Then it was time to head back to the doctor’s office. Here comes to the great part of the day!!!! I CAN NOW HEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, it amazes me, the difference!!! I could have cried. It’s going to take some major adjustments. It’s like a whole new world has opened up. Everyone is so excited for me, but most of all, I am sooooo excited! I consider this such a gift and will NEVER take it for granted. It truly is the small things…. Or the HUGE things in my case!! :)

So I had the rest of the afternoon off, YAY… and went last night and got some dinner from Tijuana Flats in honor of Cinco de Mayo and I went in and they were blaring music and the place was packed and people everywhere…. And it was so loud for these ears and wanted to tell everyone to shut up, haha!!!!!!!!

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

It's a BIG day for me!!!

As ya'll know... I had surgery this past January. The surgery site is healed and now today I am going to get my hearing device.

I get better hearing today ya'll!!!!

I think I will cry when I hear clear for the first time in a loooong time today!

God is so good!

Please keep me in your prayers today if you would. This is going to make such a HUGE difference in my life.

I never for one second want to take this for granted! Hearing is such a gift and I never would have been able to say that had I not walked this road.

This is a part of whom I am. This is my life, my story, his plan! And his plans are ALWAYS great!!!

Jeremiah 29:11 - 'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

And Happy Cinco De Mayo!!! There's double reasons for me to celebrate today!!!

Weekend review with some pictures!

So like I said, Friday night I went to my co-worker Cristina’s house to give her an extra hand for the evening. Her twin girls were having a slumber party. They were making cupcakes, painting finger nails, the whole shebang!! It was fun but I was worn out by the end of it… They have so much energy.

Here’s some pictures from the evening:

Cupcake station!

So, yeah...the chocolate ones came out kind of deformed looking, haha!!

They are a mess!!

Nail time!

My attempt at painting a smiley face on her finger if you can see it, ha!!

All finished. As you can see she wanted different colors on each hand, ha!

To be that age again and I remember so well how much I used to love having slumber parties!!

Saturday I did a bunch of stuff around the house and then I treated myself to a pedicure. Heavenly. It’s my only indulgence, something I do to treat myself and try to do it at least once a month!! :) All of us girls need some good pamper time. Then when I walked out I saw this…

Interesting choice of car color, huh? Just one of those things that makes you go hmmmm…

Saturday night I went to go hang out with my BFF Melissa for awhile and we ate dinner. It was a nice evening so we decided to go take her pug Marley for a walk.

Is he not the cutest thing EVER!!!

Momma and son!

Sunday I went to church with the parentals. Such a great service as usual. And then I treated them to lunch at a restaurant called First Watch… And we had a dish called..

Not Guilty Your Honor (Cute name, huh?)
A wheat tortilla filled with cucumber, spinach leaves, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, tomato slices and feta cheese. Served with a side of hummus.

DELICIOUS!!!! Got no pictures on Sunday :( And pretty much the whole rest of Sunday was pure laziness and enjoyed my last free day before school started back up again!

I know its Tuesday, but better late than never to say I hope you had a wonderful weekend and hope ya’ll are having a great start to your week!

This side of Heaven!

This picture needs no words.

I intended to do a full weekend recap but it just didn’t seem appropriate. I’m sure many of you have seen the devastation that took place in the Nashville area of TN over the weekend.

I have a very special place in my heart for Nashville and I don’t even live there but as many of you know, I hope to after I get out of school.

My heart goes out to the people that have lost their homes, personal belongings, and most of all loved ones. I can’t even imagine.

Can I just say one thing though?

God is still sovereign. He still sits on the throne.

And can I say another thing?

He’s coming like YESTERDAY!!

I don’t say that to scare any of ya’ll and if you have any kind of faith and are a believer that shouldn’t scare you but it should give you hope. And if you’re a believer you also know we’re living in some pretty scary times right now. We’re living in times where our faith is being tested with everything that is going on in the world, and at the end of the day it can leave us all feeling very confused.

But God is sill God.

We’ll never understand this…

this...

or this....

Some things we'll just never understand....This side of Heaven!
